Venue:

Event Description:

If you are aged 16 - 21, have Fridays spare and are prepared for a bit of hard graft then why not come and lend a hand with vital conservation work in the Churnet Valley? Activities might include woodland management, dry stone walling, fencing, constructing a boardwalk, removing invasive scrub, digging a pond or planting trees. No experience is necessary and we provide all the tools and equipment needed along with work boots and waterproofs if required. We'll even chuck in hot drinks and snacks. You'll need to wear old clothes you don't mind getting dirty, be prepared for all weathers and bring a packed lunch.

If you are hoping to get a job in conservation or land management then we can help you gain a level 2 Certificate in work-based Environmental Conservation. Fully accredited by City & Guilds this course takes an average of about 6 months to complete but can be achieved in less time if you volunteer with another conservation group each week.

We meet at our workshop in Leek at 9.30am every Friday and return for around 3.15pm. Transport is provided to and from the work sites.

For further information or to book a place on any Friday then contact Martin Evans on 07530 489798 or m.evans@staffs-wildlife.org.uk
